Dr Lee-Mei Yap

Dr Yap is a highly skilled specialist in medical, laser and cosmetic dermatology.
Medical training and appointments
Dr Yap graduated in Medicine with Honours from the University of Melbourne and is a fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists (ACD). She undertook thirteen years of undergraduate and specialist dermatology training to become a dermatologist and has been practising as a dermatologist in Australia for almost two decades.
In 2006, Dr Lee-Mei joined the Dermatology Institute of Victoria with Professor Greg Goodman and Kew Dermatology with Dr Peter Sinclair, two of the most established dermatology practices in Australia. In August 2022, she joined Associate Professor Peter Foley at Foley Dermatology and Associates.
Subspecialty interests
Dr Lee-Mei takes great pride in caring for adults and children in all areas of dermatology. She treats a full range of skin concerns including acne, inflammatory skin conditions, pigmentation, sun damage and skin cancers.
In the aesthetic realm, Dr Lee-Mei is well known for her artistic eye for detail and innovative, advanced techniques for natural-looking full face rejuvenation. She is passionate about treating acne early to avoid scarring and its negative effect on self esteem. She sits on a clinical advisory board of leading dermatologists in Australia who run All About Acne (www.acne.org.au), a not-for-profit organisation and educational resource for patients and doctors to share evidence-based information on the latest treatments in skin heath and acne.
Dr Lee-Mei is a Senior Dermatologist at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, where her subspecialty interests include biologic therapies for psoriasis and eczema, skin lymphoma and complex dermatology. She has been a visiting dermatologist at The Alfred and the Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) clinic at the Skin Health Institute.
Contribution to dermatology
education and college
Dr Lee-Mei is actively involved in teaching dermatology trainees, general practitioners and nurses. She has multiple scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and has been invited to speak and chair at national and international conferences. Her dermatology college representations include being appointed to the Executive Committee and Faculty Secretary of the Victorian Faculty of Dermatologists. She has also been an examiner for the ACD fellowship examinations and is an active member of the Australasian Society of Cosmetic Dermatologists.
